Advertising Books for Better Copywriting
Quick Facts on good books. Plus, how to get me to do your copywriting for advertising. Or, even cheaper alternatives.
You can read about writing until you’re blue in the face. There’s plenty of material out there and on this site.
If you want to write your own copy, I suggest you cut to the chase and get this book
. It’s brilliant and most of today’s hot shot copywriters still swear by it.
That includes the plugged-in-internet twitterheads who were still riding a hotwheel with a flame emblem on the side in their family driveway while I was writing my 10,000th commercial. Just saying…
This book is so good it actually inspires. Reading it makes you sit up and feel that rare–”hey, this is a good book, I’m glad I own it”– feeling.
If you want to have copy written for a current project, contact me about my schedule. If I am available we can work out the logistics.
If I am not available I can help you find a competent writer who will deliver good copy at the price you want.
If you are still set on writing your own I can recommend these titles.
The Copywriters Handbook by Bob Bly
Start and Run Your Own Copywriting Business by Steve Slaunwhite
The Adweek Copywriting Handbook by Joe Sugarman
To be honest I have not read the last book, just heard about it. I can suggest it as a winner based on good reviews.
Copywriting for advertising is still one of those things that cannot be automated. But a lot of smart people are working on it.
Until then, it’s up to us humans to figure out the positioning, tactics, copy angles for certain mediums, and follow through.
I do copywriting advertising on radio and TV and of course, internet.
Do it yourself, or call one of us writers for hire.
You can also get much less expensive writers by running an ad in the Philippines Craigslist classifieds. You can find some really good writers who work hard and enjoy a high level of productivity.
Copywriting for advertising is a huge subject. Keep focused on the goal.
Get to work writing yourself or email me and we’ll talk about it. You should know up front that I have limited time to take projects. KyleProd at gmail.com
