Copywriting for Advertising Article Marketing Part 3

Never have writers block again. This easy exercise will break through any stuck place you might experience.

I call it mind mapping. Before I talk about it , I want to make sure you know that you can get some of the world’s best books on writing by clicking on the shop link in the header ( above) of this blog. It’s easy to shop this way, and yes, I get a small commission if you buy something. But that does not increase the price.

OK. So let’s get to writers block. Mind Mapping works every time. It helps you uncover hidden ideas and restores the flow of creativity.

Here’s how:

Use pen and paper or type in on the computer. I like both methods but there are times when I prefer pen and paper so I can feel free to write anything and draw a little.

Write a word in the center of the page. If you are typing,  just write it anywhere. Allow your mind to start connecting  new words to the word you wrote.

Example. SHOE.  sole, strings, walk, tennis, dress, black, high heel, boots, brogans, step in mud, walk on pavement.

Take any of those words or ideas and start making connections with them as well. Do not try to stay on topic. Go all over the place. Do not try to have a good idea. Just write. Do not try to capture something genius. Just write.  Be stupid, be funny, go off on a tangent.

It helps to draw a line or arrow to different thought ideas or clusters of words that naturally group themselves.

Thnik of perspective shifts that can help you allow ideas to flow. Larger, smaller, famous, anonymous, young, old, hot, cold.

These perspective shifts can take you to a whole new place. That’s what you want. Allow it.

When you feel like you are out of word connections, stop. Take a short break ( 5 minutes) , then go back and look at your mind map with an eye

for organization. ( left brain.) See any patterns? If you do, great. If no patterns assert themselves, that’s fine, too. This is one of thousands of mind maps you will do. Get in the habit of doing ten mind maps a day. Your creativity will explode.

Mind Mapping is a surefire way to find good ideas for articles. Copywriting for advertising just got easier.

Copywriting For Advertising Article Marketing Series Part 2

The length of the article that you will be writing is important.

One of the larger Article Marketing directories suggests 700 words as a good standard. I like to go with 500 to 700. But when possible I think a 250 to 400 word aarticle is good. Many readers simply don’t have time for long articles.

Also consider your potential to write on a specific
subject. It may be easy for you to write a large number of articles on TV shows,
but have a limited creativity for articles on cooking. Don’t push yourself
to write on something you are not comfortable with. Most of the time those articles will turn
out poorly and may not be published.

Also, remember that your article will be read by a human being. In your
quest to include the perfect keywords in your article for maximum search
engine optimization, don’t allow your article to be contrived for SEO.

How To Make Use Of Article Marketing Strategies:

If you have an online business then you must have heard about affiliate
marketing programs.  Affiliate marketing simply means promoting other people’s goods or services with the help of your
website. This is done by including the affiliate links of merchant sites on yourwebsite .Your readers have the option  to explore your website,
click on these links that transports them to the merchant’s home page. If they
make final purchases of goods or services from these sellers, you get to keep a
commission on the cost.

But how to attract so much web traffic?

One of the best ways of doing this is by article marketing.
How?
You write articles about the goods that you are promoting; sprinkle them
with a handful of backlinks and submit them with various article directories. In
case the directory does not approve of backlinks, you can simply provide your
website address.

These directories put up your articles, as search engine
results when someone looks up the selected keywords. If the web traffic finds
your article to be useful and interesting, they travel straight back to your website
and from there, to the merchant sites. It is not only an easy way of promoting
your affiliate links, it is also a cheap one.  Knowing more about
article marketing and the various types of articles is indispensable if you want to take up affiliate marketing.

This article is an attempt to help you incorporate your copywriting for advertising in affiliate marketing. This link will give you an excellent start. Click Here!

Copywriting For Advertising Presents Article Marketing Series Part 1

A 2454767179_11dc89431f_mself promotional method called  Article Marketing .

What is it?

Many marketers are taking to online Article Marketing as one of the most
effective ways to use their copywriting to advertise their business. If done effectively it can
drive a large audience of potential consumers to a target website within a
short period of time.

How is it done?

Step one-Write Articles about your business or other topic.

Step two-Submit articles to various online  article directories.

Step Three- Readers looking for specific topics find your articles and are directed to your site.

More and more people are going online to
advertise their business. An article directory is the place where the writer can upload his or her content.
These directories are a free service to the advertiser . As more and
more articles are put up on this directory they become popular on search engines.
This is good for both the writer and the directory owner.

Although quite similar in their functions article marketing on the Internet is slightly
more evolved than on print media. The article directory can be enhanced by
search engine optimization through the use of targeted keywords that are
related to the subject matter of the content of the articles included. In this way
whenever a browser wants to search on a particular subject, he or she will use
some keywords on a search engine. If any of these words match with the
targeted words used in the article, then the website containing the article directory will
come up high on the search list. This increases the hits on the
webpage.

Article marketing is a form of copywriting for advertising that is done to attract more viewers to your website.

Remember, your website needs to be convincing enough to convert potential buyers into actual consumers of your product.

The content of your website needs to be relevant.  You
you should also offer options of registering with your website to receive regular updates .

Benefits of Article Marketing

If you’re not yet using article marketing as a way of advertising your business,  you could be losing out on a profitable
market share. To get a feel for the advantages of article marketing , read through the
next section to see how much you have been missing in terms of
copywriting for advertising. This link will take you to an excellent article marketing  technique. Click Here!

Many people have the idea that effective advertising can be done only
by investing heavy sums of money. But article marketing does not require
a budget, just your time and writing skills. You can reach out to a wide base of potential customers for
your product without having to spend a single penny.

Since article marketing on the Internet involves the use of search engine
optimization through keywords, the browsers who actually read your article are
not random readers. They have already been screened by
the keywords when they typed in the relevant words . This
means that they are looking for information that links your article directly to their
topic of search.

If the content of your article is good enough then once you put it up on the
Internet it will spread to various modes of publication quickly. Other websites, emagazines
and newsletters are some of the added publication media that will
host your article.

This means wider publicity of your product or business. That
in turn increases the chances of your product sale. The more your article is
circulated through various modes of publicity, the more people will read it and
know about your product and business. That is the basic point of any
advertisement.

The life of any other mode of advertisement is limited. If you want to
continue that particular ad then you will have to pay at regular intervals.

But in case of article marketing not only can you market your business
for free, but it will last. You do not need to renew it in any way. All you
need to make sure of is posting updates regularly through new articles
to update your readers with the latest developments of your product and business.

Copywriting? Know Your Client’s Advertising Position

3151328229_38d8a1b55b_mHow do you decide what to write in an ad? When you are mulling over ideas and biting the end of your pen, what finally pushes you to write the first word?

Here’s the secret that has been helping writers create fast copy for years.

Know your client’s actual position in the market place.

The excellent book called “Positioning, The Battle for Your Mind” by Al Ries and Jack Trout,  is still a classic. If you are involved in marketing  you should own this book and study it over and over.

This is going to get a little geeky and complex so be warned.

From an overall perspective, there are four basic positions your client can occupy. Leader, Second to leader, Flanker, and Guerilla.

Within your clients position, even within a smaller circle of competitors these positions can morph and present you with all kinds of complexity.

So we will be basic here.

I’ll use WalMart as an example.  They are a leader in most small towns.

That means they cover many bases in an attempt to own everything. They must self attack to find their own weaknesses before competitors uncover a vulnerable place and slam dunk them with a score.

The number two store can make it if they will find the weakness WalMart has that is caused by WalMart’s own strength. Example. They are too big to give great personal service.

The Flanker finds a way to jump into the marketplace by surpirse, out of the blue, uncontested. If done right, the Flanker can make a big splash all of a sudden and be a big hit. This is risky. It takes strength and follow through.

The Guerilla stays small, makes a good living and doesn’t bother the big guys. But don’t be fooled. A Guerilla can be a local hot dog stand, or a Jaguar dealer. There are various ways to market as a guerilla.

So when you figure out where your client is in the game, the copy starts to write itself. Ideas about the position of your client start to flow.

This article could have been written in the late 1980’s and still be highly relevant today. Positioning is  incredibly important.

I can’t tell you how many people in marketing know nothing about positioning. When you learn it you will be ahead of the game.

Just for fun, you can accurately predict success and failure of million dollar businesses based soley on positioning.

The authors of ” Positioning” have also written other excellent books you can learn  a lot from:

The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing

The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding

Learn it and you’ll be a better copywriter for advertising.
